CROYDON: KCWA reached new heights in setting the standards for accumulating the raw talents of the Malayalee community members, in showcasing their talent, resourcefulness and hard work to celebrate Onam 2011, with a bang of colour, dance, music, drama and comedy!
The voluntary aided program, funded by the determination, effort and hard work of its members would surpass any professional production in its creativity, deliverance and beauty. All who attended were amazed, amused and astounded by the achievements of its young and old members in the different styles of dance forms , Kathakali, Ottamthullal, Bollywood style dances, Bharathanatyam dances by the KCWA  dance class, comedy based drama , outstanding Ganamala by Sreekumar, Thomas, Sudeesh and teen ager Sreya Sunil. Sreya has the talent to become a star singer in near future and she mesmerized the audience with her wonderful voice. KCWA held KALAMELA dance competitions in association with the ONAM celebrations this year. The participants were of a high caliber and the competition was fierce.
The programme started at 3:30 pm by lighting the traditional ‘Nilavilakku’ by KCWA patron Mr.Komalogan and welfare secretary  Mr.V.Mangalavadanan. Mr.Jayachandran Pillai, welcomed everyone to the celebration.Chief guests of the programme were The Worshipful Mayor of Croydon Councilor Graham Bass and Mayoress Mrs. Jean Bass, Malcolm Wicks MP, Gavin Barwell MP, Councilor Vidhi Mohan, CVA Chief Executive Steve Phaure, BME Forum Chief Executive Nero Ughwujabo. The guests praised KCWA for organizing the community and providing opportunity to all children and adults to showcase their artistic abilities. The awards for the highest academic and artistic achievements were handed out by the chief guests. Secretary Mr. Ashok Kumar thanked everyone for supporting KCWA and invited everyone to attend ONASDHYA on 17th September 2011 at Lanfranc School, Croydon.
KCWA is indebted to the association members in investing their time, money and hard work to giving the community an amazing Onam gift of celebration for all who attended.  Once again, a huge thank you to all who were involved, contributed and supported in the success of Onam 2011.
